As we get older and accrue more responsibilities, our lives tend to become more fast-paced and in turn, it can be all too easy for us to grow overwhelmed and disconnected – not just from each other, but also from ourselves. It’s easy to get bogged down by the seriousness of it all, the weight of which drags us down and keeps us tired, complacent, and stuck. And in this heaviness, we actually become ungrounded to our lived experiences. Reality becomes simulation.
What if I told you the key to uncovering your inner joy, connectedness, and purpose can be found in you? In fact, it’s something you used to be well-acquainted with: your good old friend, creativity. Our creativity is far more than simply a form of self-expression or quick thinking, but in fact the power needed to manifest our joy, deeper human connections, and a life full of purpose and presence.
Creativity Is Manifestation
Let us go back in time for a moment, to when we were young children and we had the time to simply be. Using our imagination was second-nature—first-nature, actually.
When we were younger, we used our imagination nonstop. We were heroes saving our dolls and toys from imagined peril; we were gourmet chefs making sensational peanut butter toast in the kitchen. This isn’t simply because children have the time and energy to be imaginative.
More than just painting or writing, creativity is a soulful practice, one that brings us into the moment, unlocks our true potential, and aligns us with what matters most. Creativity is bringing what we want to us and making it real—manifestation. Whether you’re journaling once a day, cooking your family’s recipes, making postcards with holiday design templates, or simply trying to be present each and every day, your creativity opens a portal to authentic living and emotional freedom. It is very serious unseriousness.
Manifesting Joy Is A Creative Choice
Joy is not some byproduct of chance or luck. Joy is a created choice, rooted in how we think and feel. It runs through every aspect of our life. Adopting a joy-full mindset means shifting from passive waiting to active creating, or intentional manifesting. We have to make our joy so as to attract more of it to us. The key to doing this is using the power of our creativity in abundance.
Just as journaling with the TXXXC structure helps refine thought patterns and make daily goals more obtainable, manifesting joy daily with creativity will signal to the universe that we’re ready to receive it. Because when you do these things with the intention of being joyful you make joy a constant presence in your life.
Imagine what your pets would say to you if they could speak; make something different for breakfast this morning; draw a picture and put it on your fridge door. Set out to make or imagine something that doesn’t exist. Is that a smile I see?
Being creative means collaborating with the energies of the universe, its agents, and all those who dwell in it. When we are creative and free we are uplifted, and when we are no longer tied down we can manifest the joy we make ourselves deserving of.
Creativity Enhances Emotional Clarity
In order to more acutely manifest joy, we actually need to become more in tune with all our emotions. It is only by seeing beyond ourselves and what is immediately in front of us that we can begin to see more of what is beneath the surface and what shall be. We become not still, but grounded.
The fullness of our beings is composed of more than just the emotions we feel in any one moment. The stress or sadness you may feel in the throes of life is just one piece of the puzzle. We need to know who we are at all stages of our being, fall in love with the version of ourselves who is sad and happy, mad and calm, listless and hopeful altogether. We cannot know what one emotion is without knowing what it isn’t. We can only know who we are by knowing and adoring all versions of ourselves.
When we prioritise our creativity and start to create more in this life than we take, we actually bombard ourselves with empathy. Empathy deepens our understanding of the emotional states of other people, and as such, we actually grow closer to everyone. We know where they are coming from because we too are there with them.
Creative endeavors, especially art and community involvement, help foster social connections and teamwork. Creative acts are meant to be shared! We share our manifested joy with them and theirs with us. We know how important this truth is for young children and we emphasise it in school and early development. It is just as relevant to us now as adults—we have just forgotten this truth.
A greater emotional intelligence is directly related to a greater sense of self. Not only by being more creative will we feel more ourselves, but we will also feel more in common with everyone else around us and ultimately everything else.
Clarity Allows for Connection To Everything
We come full circle: our creativity brings joy and connection; by actively being creative in our day to day life, we manifest joy; by manifesting joy we gain emotional clarity and in turn know our true selves; by knowing ourselves and by being joyfully creative, we know others; and so by connecting with others we connect with the universe and everything can make sense. This is clarity.
Clarity is the key to everything, really, to fixing your stress and ennui. By seeing things clearly, ourselves included, we gain a focus and ultimate meaning to our lives. We can see clearly that everything we do in life is for joy, for creating and manifesting more of it in everything we see and do. We see with clarity that everything in the universe is working for joy and working to bring it to everything else—us included!
When we manifest something, we are relying on our imagination to make a new reality. You can manifest anything you want, so why not manifest a more complete and fulfilling life?
